There is a wealth of excursions you can take to get to know the “real”Costa Rica… if you want to.

Manuel Antonio National Park
A visit to famed Manuel Antonio National Park is an absolute MUST. The most celebrated natural zone in Costa Rica and the area’s main tourist attraction, the Park is ribboned by white sand beaches and is home to a vast array of wildlife including white-face, howler and titi monkeys, sloths and giant iguanas. Toucans, Parrots, Mot Mots and a host of other tropical birds paint the forest in brilliant hues as the cacophony of jungle voices will seduce you into a state of nature-inspired wonder. Take a guided tour which includes a non-strenuous hike appropriate for all ages. Upon completion of the guided segment, guests can stay to enjoy the beautiful beaches.

Area Beaches
The group of beaches that compose the Ballena National Marine Park, beginning in the village of Uvita, are all within a 15 to 25 minute drive. Uvita is known for its iconic sandbar shaped like a whale’s tail – the reef which protects this sandbar from dangerous currents and strong waves make this a perfect place to swim. The southern end of the beach is an ideal spot for amateur surfers. Arco and Ballena are beautifully secluded – you can walk miles without seeing another soul!  Piñuela, more of a pebbly beach, is where local fishermen anchor their boats in a small cove of moderate surf. Best of all, during the week, these four pristine beaches have very few visitors!

National Parks
This Southern Pacific region has the largest area of protected land designated to parks and reserves in Costa Rica. The hotel is close to Corcovado National Park, Caño Island Biological Reserve, Terraba-Sierpe Mangroves, Manuel Antonio National Park and the Ballena National Marine Park, among others. To observe this exotic wildlife, ask about available hiking and boating trips for an unforgettable adventure.

Whale Watching
The humpback whale migrates from both hemispheres to the warm tropical waters of Costa Rica. They arrive mid July to October and again from December through March. Named after 'whale', the Ballena National Marine Park covers 44 acres on land and stretches out over 2,100 acres on the sea. Make sure to take a half day whale watching or snorkeling tour, depending on the season. You might see the pilot whales or the bottle nose and spotted dolphins which are residents of the Uvita coast!

Aerial Tramway
If you’re less adventurous but still want to see the wonders of the rainforest, you can take an aerial tram tour. You’ll glide above the rainforest for an unforgettable view as you soar 100-feet above the jungle floor. The diversity of plants and animals such as tree frogs, vine snakes, sloths and hundreds of species of birds will truly take your breath away.

Bird Watching
There are over 250 species of birds at the Santa Rosa National Park, one of the largest in Costa Rica. Part of the Guanacaste Conservation Area, it protects a sizable portion of the last tropical dry forest in the world. One of the main attractions of this park is that it is the only one of its kind on the planet, where 10 distinctive habitations can be found. Deciduous forests, oak forests, mangrove swamps, littoral woodlands, evergreen forests, marshlands and savannahs cover the entire park area.
