THINGS TO SEE & DO

Crested Butte.. or… “The Butte”
Whichever name you want to call this place one thing’s for sure – you will have an amazing and unforgettable time here! There are few places remaining that can be called a true “Colorado ski town”…which it is… in the winter. Crested Butte is considered a holdout, retaining its adventurous soul that it has always had. The town itself is pure wild-wild west – it was once a 19th-century coal mining center – and still retains its old-world charm while offering a modern-day year-round resort experience. Anything that you can do on snow, you can do here. If you like to ski, the area offers lift-served alpine skiing and snowboarding, cross-country skiing, as well as a wealth of backcountry terrain for ski adventurer. And non-snow months are just as exciting…with wonderful hiking, biking and just playing in the great mountain air! Ride the Silver Queen or Red Lady Express to the top of Crested Butte Mountain. From the top of the Silver Queen you can hike to the Peak of Crested Butte Mountain, have a picnic or simply ride the lift back down. The Red Lady Express carries bikes to access the many trails and roads on Crested Butte Mountain. If that’s sounds a little too adventurous, just  browse along the downtown area with its many restaurants and boutique-style shops…and for the culturally-inclined, there’s a vibrant arts and theater scene with performances in dance, music, theater and visual arts exhibitions scheduled year-round.

Trailhead Children’s Museum
Explore!  Create!  Play!  Learn!  The Trailhead Children's Museum offers hands-on exhibits and programs in the arts, sciences and creative play for children and families. Discover the Dig Pit, Dark Room, Science Lab, Magic Magnets, Indoor Play Set, Pirate Ship, All You Can Create Art Bar and their new Garden to Grocery Healthy Living Exhibit. It’s a nice change of pace from the outdoor excitement – with events and activities for kids and their parents, too!

Crested Butte Summer Events & Festivals
There's a saying in the mountains that says, "I came for the winter, but I stayed because of the summer."  Come summer time, the trails, rivers and peaks surrounding Crested Butte explode with a bevy of activity.  Enjoy fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, golfing or just basking in the Colorado sun … just a few of the things you can do when the snow melts. Crested Butte also plays host to a wide range of themed events coming up this summer. Check out Crested Butte Events web-sites for details which will delight both foodies and non-foodies alike – including restaurant weeks and a wine & food festival, plus a special bike week, music festival, arts festival and so much more!

Adventure Park
This is a must-do for family fun and excitement! The Adventure Park has it all… bungee trampolines – providing gravity-defying rides up to 30-feet in the air – plus mini golf under a weather-protected tent, and zip-lines and a climbing wall!
