When the Lakeland Terrace Hotel first opened her doors in 1924, she was hailed as one of Florida's finest, new year-round inns, which at the time was a rather novel concept. Today, The Terrace Hotel is considered to be the centerpiece of downtown Lakeland’s rebirth. Polk Museum of Art
This wonderful museum is one of Florida’s top-ten art museums. Currently displaying art from the Pre-Columbian era through the contemporary, it features hundreds of works in a variety of exhibits. These exhibits often revolve around a central theme or idea and link artworks from the ancient past with those of modern artists. Polk Museum boasts a permanent collection of over 2,500 works and a number of traveling exhibits which provide diverse displays that include American folk art, modern masters, Japanese prints and textiles, African art, a permanent Pre-Columbian display, and much more.
Florida Air Museum
The Florida Air Museum, Florida’s “Official Aviation Museum and Education Center” features a dynamic display of the best examples aviation has to offer including one-of-a-kind designs, classics, ultra-lights, antiques and war-birds. But the Museum is more than a collection of airplanes; it is a tribute to the history and joy of flight highlighting pioneers such as Howard Hughes, early air racers, and countless Floridians who have influenced the world of aviation. – a definite must-see for lover of flight!
LEGOLAND® Florida is a 150-acre interactive family theme park specifically designed for families with children ages 2 to 12. Buildings, landscapes and vehicles were built using standard LEGO bricks – with incredible areas including depictions of New York City, the Kennedy Space Center complete with a shuttle launch, special play areas and so much more. This is the largest LEGOLAND Park in the world, featuring more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions, restaurants, shopping, a breathtaking botanical garden and the all-new LEGOLAND Water Park.
Busch Gardens Africa
You’ve heard of it, so now here’s your chance to go and visit – Busch Gardens Africa combines world-class thrill rides, lavish Broadway-style live entertainment and one of the largest zoo’s in North America for an unforgettable African adventure in an exciting theme park setting. This wonderful theme park is located outside of Tampa, about 35 miles from Lakeland.
