THINGS TO SEE AND DO

Historic Milford, PA
Take a leisurely stroll through the Historic District of Milford. In just 20 blocks you will discover more than 50 Victorian buildings of architectural and historic significance, circa 1814-1914. All are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and feature a variety of Victorian styles including Gothic, Italianate, Second Empire and Queen Anne. Pick up a tour map at the hotel’s reception desk.

The Columns Museum
The Columns Museum, operated by the Pike County Historical Society, is housed in a Neo-Greek Revival mansion and showcases a fine collection of art, artifacts and ephemera from generations of ancestors, with a special focus on Pike County and the surrounding areas. Exhibits include the famous “bloody Lincoln Flag,“ which is believed to have cushioned the dying president’s head after he was shot at Ford’s Theater in April of 1865. Civil War artifacts, historic farm tools and firearms, Native American artifacts, the Hiawatha stagecoach, vintage gowns and uniforms, photo albums and period letters, musical instruments and kitchenware are all on display, as well as special seasonal exhibits.

The Zane Grey Museum
Home of the "Father of the Western Novel" sits along the banks of the Upper Delaware River. Zane Grey lived in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, from 1905 until 1918. Lackawaxen always held a special place in his memories, and was chosen as the site of his final resting place. Today, Grey's home from 1914-18 is preserved by the National Park Service as part of Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River.

Milford, PA is known for its wonderful collection of art galleries and local antique stores. The Artery – Fine Art & Craft Gallery, is owned and operated by a cooperative group of successful and emerging artists from the Tri-State Area and features original work from over 20 artists – from traditional to contemporary, featuring painting, jewelry, enamels, pottery, photography, glass, sculpture, collage, stone, wood, fiber, brush writing and more. The Golden Fish Gallery Fine Arts & Crafts is an unusual gallery promoting works by local Pike County artists / crafts people and features paintings, prints and sculptures, handcrafted tables and custom-built lamps, jewelry and other rare and unusual objects.
