The American Precision Museum, housed in the original Robbins & Lawrence Armory, is a fascinating look into the largest collection of historically significant machine tools in the nation. The tools and the methods which make mass production possible were pioneered here at the Robbins & Lawrence Armory in Windsor, Vermont. Using precision metal and wood cutting machines and high standards of accuracy, Robbins & Lawrence proved the effectiveness of a new type of manufacturing that would soon be known as the American System.
Woodstock and Quechee, VT
Woodstock has long been considered one of New England’s most popular towns – and looks like what you’d expect when you hear “typical” and “charming”! The downtown is compact – filled with galleries, boutiques and restaurants, an idyllic village green surrounded by beautiful and stately homes, and a picture-postcard-worthy covered bridge! Quechee is also a typical and magical New England area. Its claim to fame includes the Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s deepest gorge, formed by glacial activity approximately 13,000 years ago – look down at the Ottauquechee River, flowing 165 feet below viewing points along Route 4. Also enjoy the actual town of Quechee, home to the Simon Pearce Mill and glass-blowing factory where you can see the craftsmen and artisans at work, shop, and dine at one of the area’s best restaurants.
The Harpoon Brewery in Windsor VT (originally the Catamount Brewery), was purchased in the summer of 2000.
