The Boardwalk
National Geographic
calls it the “grandfather of boardwalks.” Travel+Leisure says “don’t miss out on a rolling chair ride,” And USA Today named it one of the top “Best Boardwalks.” However you want to spin it, The Boardwalk is truly the backbone of this seaside resort city, providing easy access to hotels, resorts, casinos, shops and so much more! There are several piers featuring a number of attractions which stem from The AC Boardwalk. Steel Pier, the most famous, was originally known for showcasing the world’s top entertainers with name and novelty acts. Today, Steel Pier is popular with “children of all ages” with fun-filled amusement park rides and those pesky games of chance. Garden Pier is known as the arts and cultural center of the AC Boardwalk and is home to the Atlantic City Historical Museum and Atlantic City Art Center.

Everyone who comes to Atlantic City – whether they’re gamblers or not – will definitely visit one of the many casinos, just to take a look, and maybe drop a few coins in the slots while walking around! Some of the City’s most legendary are located close by. We don’t mean to “name-drop”… but the Trump Taj Mahal, Resorts Atlantic City, Showboat and the Borgata are all near-by. And these amazing resorts are not just for gamblers, as you can also find big-name entertainment and fabulous world-class restaurants for unforgettable dining adventures!

Lucy the Elephant
Lucy the Elephant was built by real estate developer, James Lafferty, in 1881, as a gimmick to attract potential buyers to his land holdings along the coast of South Atlantic City (now Margate). Eventually, a popular hotel business was built around Lucy. Presidents and royalty came from around the world to stay at the neighboring Elephant Hotel and climb the stairs to Lucy's howdah. In 1976, Lucy was designated a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. government as the oldest surviving example of a unique form of "zoomorphic" architecture, and the oldest "roadside" attraction in America. Today, she stands as the most popular non-gaming attraction in the greater Atlantic City region – don’t miss her!

Atlantic City Historical Museum
Atlantic City's diverse history is on display here with vintage photographs, local artifacts, costumes, posters and postcards, memorabilia of Miss America and video presentations. It offers interesting insights into the city's history through various exhibits and artifacts. And for fans of the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire”, the museum unveiled an exhibit dedicated to that era in city history – and features information and photographs of AC boss Enoch “Nucky” Johnson, the man who was the inspiration behind Boardwalk Empire’s fictionalized Nucky Thompson – go figure!

Atlantic City Shopping
Shop-a-holics will have a grand time in Atlantic City! The Pier Shops at Caesars is an upscale mall built on what was an industrial pier many years ago, and is now home to fashionable shops such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Those seeking a great deal will have a blast at the Atlantic City Outlets, which features over 90 stores and incredible bargains! And of course you can take a stroll along the Atlantic City Boardwalk for AC staples like decadent fudge and salt water taffy, along with souvenir and specialty stores!

Absecon Lighthouse
The Absecon Lighthouse is the third tallest lighthouse in the US, and the tallest in the state of New Jersey. At 171 feet high, visitors can climb the 200+ steps for a magnificent view of the Jersey Shore. Added to the National Register of Historic Places, it’s amazing to note that the same lens used to light the way for mariners when the lighthouse first opened in 1857 is still in use today!

Atlantic City Aquarium
Who doesn’t love to see fish! With a combination aquarium and marine science education center, the Atlantic City Aquarium houses more than 100 species of fish and other marine creatures. Its 11 tanks offer you a close-up look at Giant Moray Eels, seahorses, jellyfish, an octopus, a coral reef and much more. At the Ocean Life Center's 750-gallon Touch Tank, you can actually handle sea urchins, shrimp, whelk, mussels, hermit crabs and other sea creatures. Elsewhere, a 23,000-gallon tank showcases Fish of the New Jersey Coast, among them sea bass, sand tiger sharks, northern stingray and kingfish. Although most of its aquariums are saltwater tanks, the Atlantic City Aquarium devotes displays to freshwater and estuarine marine life as well
